Preview: Friday 14th, 6-8 pm
Note: Exhibition closed on Tuesday 18th

(o-gil-vie): BLURRED BOUNDARIES will explore cross disciplinarity and collaboration within the creative fields; visual artists, designers, makers, practitioners that go out with the perceived traditional boundaries of their own specialised discipline; in a sense creating a non definable type of making and critical theoretical thought and discourse not constrained by historical archetypes and erstwhile canons. Concerning both the individual - whose practice takes influence from multiple disciplinarily approaches, processes and methodologies, and the collaborative – projects that consist the input of several creative backgrounds which result in one end outcome.

Influenced by the ever increasing blurred boundaries between visual creative disciplines, BLURRED BOUNDARIES aims to create not just a physical space, but also a space for reflection and cross-fertilisation between the different worlds and working methods developing at a time when the distinction between artistic endeavour and design is increasingly blurred. The project is rooted in a strong yet open idea of the contemporary, allowing design and art to chime together in new ways. The exhibition is in no way constrained to just the fusion between visual art and design practices, the exhibition summary has deliberately been left open  to prompt progressive interpretation; as the curator of the show I want the exhibition to evolve organically over time, in a sense the work dictates the direction of the show opposed to the curator.

This project will consist in three parts; 1. A continual ongoing social forum of research material and discussion through the projects blog; o-gil-vie.blogspot.com 2. An exhibition, which will provide a visual representation of the discussed theme of cross disciplinary collaboration. The work of ‘emerging’ artists/ designers will be paramount in the exhibitions. (o-gil-vie) aims to promote young creative talent that are pushing the boundaries within their own creative discipline. 3. A virtual exhibition, a narrated walk through of the exhibition with critical response to each of the works. Very much acting as continually researched based the virtual exhibition will ask questions, raise issues and discuss developments opposed to deriving answers. This will be presented through a edited recorded film, Videocast, providing an engaging way for the wider audience to view, share and participate (through the blog) with the discussion. An inclusive, non-hierarchal approach/ process to these platforms are a key objective, a transparent process of community, collaboration and shared information
